Family law disclosure software FAQ

Answers to the questions family law firms ask about Disclosio: how clients upload documents, how data is protected, AI controls and Arizona Rule 49.

General

What is family law disclosure software?

It is software that helps a firm collect, review and produce the financial documents required in a divorce or other family law matter, and track the disclosure deadlines that go with them. Disclosio covers intake, document checklists, staff review, deadlines, and initial and supplemental disclosure statements.

Who is Disclosio for?

Small and mid-size family law firms: managing partners, attorneys, paralegals and firm administrators who run financial disclosure on their matters.

What does Disclosio replace?

The email requests, attachments, shared folders and spreadsheet trackers many firms use to run disclosure. See how it works.

Does Disclosio give legal advice?

No. Disclosio is software for law firms. Your attorneys remain responsible for what is disclosed and when.

For your clients

How do clients upload documents?

Clients sign in to a secure portal and follow their checklist. They can upload files from a computer or take photos of paper documents with their phone.

Do clients need to install an app?

No. The client portal runs in a web browser on a phone, tablet or computer.

What if a client uploads the wrong or an unreadable document?

Staff can ask for a new copy during review. The client sees a note on that checklist item explaining what is needed.

Security

Is client data secure?

Each firm's data is isolated from other firms, documents are stored encrypted, uploads are scanned for viruses, and staff sign in with Microsoft single sign-on. Read more about security.

Does it work with Microsoft 365?

Yes. Staff sign in with their Microsoft 365 work accounts through single sign-on, so there is no separate password to manage.

Can other firms on Disclosio see our data?

No. Each firm's matters, clients and documents are kept separate from every other firm.

Are client uploads scanned for viruses?

Yes. Every file a client uploads is scanned before staff open it.

AI assistance

Can we turn AI off?

Yes. AI assistance is optional. A firm administrator can switch it off for the whole firm, and AI can also be turned off for a single matter on request.

Which AI provider is used, and is our data kept?

Disclosio's AI assistance uses only Anthropic's Claude models through Amazon Bedrock, in a US region of Amazon Web Services, under Disclosio's own AWS account. Nothing is sent unless Disclosio has confirmed, within the past hour, that the account is set to keep no prompts or documents, and Amazon Bedrock does not use them to train models. AI is off until a firm administrator turns it on, and AI can also be turned off for a single matter on request. Your staff review what it finds, and each finding is checked against the page of the document it came from. Read more about security.

Is AI on by default?

No. AI is off until a firm administrator turns it on.

Arizona and other states

What is Arizona Rule 49?

Rule 49 of the Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedure sets out disclosure duties in Arizona family law cases, including the financial information parties must provide. Disclosio's checklists and deadline tracking are organized around it.

Which states does Disclosio support?

Disclosio is built around Arizona Rule 49 today. Support for other states is planned, and we would like to hear where you practice.
