How financial disclosure works in Disclosio
Four steps take a family law matter from client invite to served disclosure statement. Here is what your staff does at each step, and what your client sees.
The four steps
Step 1: Invite your client
Open the matter in Disclosio, choose the intake questionnaire and document checklist, and send the client a secure invite.
- Your staff
- Creates the matter, picks the checklist, sends the invite.
- Your client
- Gets an invite and signs in to their own secure portal.
Step 2: Your client uploads documents
The client answers the intake questionnaire and works through the checklist. Paper documents can be photographed with a phone. Progress saves as they go.
- Your staff
- Sees uploads arrive on the matter without opening an inbox.
- Your client
- Sees what is done and what is still needed, from phone or computer.
Step 3: Staff review
Every upload is virus scanned, then reviewed. Staff approve documents or ask for a clearer or complete copy.
- Your staff
- Approves and requests replacements from one review queue.
- Your client
- Sees a clear note when a document needs to be sent again.
Step 4: Prepare and serve the disclosure statement
Reviewed documents go into an Initial Rule 49 Disclosure Statement, drafted section by section with witnesses, experts, ESI and an exhibit index. An attorney approves it, it is finalized as Word and PDF on pleading paper, and service is recorded on the matter. When new material arrives, the supplement watch flags it for the next numbered Supplemental Disclosure Statement.
- Your staff
- Drafts the statement, gets attorney approval and records service.
- Your client
- Knows their part is finished.
